Tobermory
Clear Georgian Bay water, the Grotto, Flowerpot Island, harbour walks, boat tours, and Bruce Peninsula viewpoints.
What to do in Tobermory
Visit the Grotto
Plan the Grotto as the main Bruce Peninsula National Park stop. The clear blue Georgian Bay water, rocky shoreline, and cave views make it one of the most famous places near Tobermory. The most direct Georgian Bay Trail route is about 1.5 km one way from the Cyprus Lake area and takes many visitors about 45 minutes one way before extra shoreline time.
Book a timed Cyprus Lake/Grotto parking reservation before driving there and treat the visit as a 3 to 4 hour plan, not a quick photo stop. The first part of the walk is easier, but the Georgian Bay shoreline and Grotto access are rocky, uneven, and can involve scrambling over slippery rocks and roots. Wear sturdy shoes, keep both hands free, and add time if you want Indian Head Cove photos or a slower return by Marr Lake or Horse Lake Trail. In warmer months, watch where you step or place your hands because Massasauga rattlesnakes can be active on the Bruce Peninsula; stay on marked paths, keep distance from any snake, and never try to touch or move one.

Take a boat to Flowerpot Island
Use a boat tour or ferry from Tobermory to reach Flowerpot Island in Fathom Five National Marine Park. The island is known for flowerpot rock formations, clear water, caves, short hiking trails, and the historic lightstation.
Choose a drop-off tour if you want time to walk on the island. Plan at least 2 hours on the island for an easy short hike to the flowerpots, cave area, photos, and a relaxed return to the dock. Parks Canada suggests about 1.5 hours for the flowerpots and cave, about 3 hours if you also want the lightstation, and 4 to 5 hours for the full loop, picnic, and slower exploring. Book your return boat with enough buffer so you are not rushing back.
Ticket price range: Boat tour prices vary by operator and trip type; many adult tickets are commonly around CAD $45 to $75+

Relax at Singing Sands Beach
Use Singing Sands for a calmer Lake Huron-side stop with shallow water, sand, boardwalk-style nature areas, and rare plant habitat. It is a nice contrast to the rocky Georgian Bay side.
Go early in peak season. Parks Canada says Singing Sands parking is first-come, first-served and can fill early, and it does not provide access to the Grotto.
Ticket price range: Day-use or parking fees may apply depending on the current Parks Canada setup

Climb the Visitor Centre Lookout Tower
Stop at the Parks Canada Visitor Centre Lookout Tower for a high 360-degree-style view over Tobermory, the surrounding forest, and Georgian Bay. It is a good first stop because the Visitor Centre also helps with current park information.
Use the Bruce Peninsula National Park and Fathom Five National Marine Park Visitor Centre in Tobermory. If you want a short extra walk, Parks Canada lists the Bruce Trail to Little Dunks Bay Lookout from the Visitor Centre as about 0.8 km one way and roughly 10 to 15 minutes one way on an easy, hard-packed trail.

Try tacos at Tacomory
Add Tacomory for a casual food stop after the Grotto, Flowerpot Island, or a beach visit. It is Tobermory's taco truck on Highway 6, with tacos, bowls, burritos, nachos, and gluten-free options listed on its menu.
Check the current hours before going because seasonal Tobermory food spots can change hours. Tacomory's site lists the location as 7379 Highway 6.

Get coffee at Tobermory Coffee Company
Stop at Tobermory Coffee Company if you want a coffee break near the harbour and ferry area. Their official site lists the cafe at 23 Carlton Street and highlights Tobermory-themed blends such as Flowerpot Island, Grotto Coffee, and Singing Sands.

Eat at Tobermory Brewing Company & Grill
Use Tobermory Brewing Company & Grill as a sit-down meal or drink stop in downtown Tobermory. It is a good option when you want local craft beer, a fuller meal, and a slower break after outdoor activities.
Check the current menu and hours before going, especially outside peak summer dates. If you are driving, keep alcohol plans responsible and use a designated driver.

Hike Lion's Head Lookout
Add Lion's Head Lookout if you want a dramatic Georgian Bay cliff view outside Tobermory. The common lookout hike is often treated as a roughly 5 km moderate route with about 150 m of elevation gain, though exact distance depends on where you park and how far along the Bruce Trail you continue.
Plan it as a real hike, not a roadside stop. Budget about 2 to 4 hours, wear proper shoes, bring water, and stay back from cliff edges because the exposed limestone lookout areas can be dangerous in wind, rain, ice, or low visibility.
Ticket price range: Trail access is generally low-cost or free, but parking rules and fees can change by season

Planning tips
- Reserve Grotto parking before going during busy seasons because access is controlled by timed parking windows.
- Book Flowerpot Island boat trips ahead on summer weekends because ferry and cruise times can sell out.
- Bring sturdy shoes, water, and a light layer because rocky shoreline walks and boat rides can feel cooler than inland towns.
- Fill your gas tank before entering Tobermory or before the final stretch north, especially if you are driving around the peninsula for beaches, hikes, and boat tours.
Parking tips
- For the Grotto and Cyprus Lake area, use the official Parks Canada reservation system and arrive for your booked time slot.
- For boat tours, use signed paid parking in Tobermory and allow time to walk to the dock.
- For Lion's Head, check local parking rules before hiking because popular trailhead access can be restricted or paid during peak times.
