What to do in Niagara Falls

1
45 to 90 minutes

Visit Horseshoe Falls

Start at the main promenade beside Horseshoe Falls. This is the easiest place to understand the size and power of Niagara Falls, take photos, and walk at your own pace without needing a ticket.

How people usually see it

Most visitors see Horseshoe Falls from the Canadian side near Table Rock Centre and the Niagara Parkway promenade. You can walk along the railing for close views of the water going over the edge, then continue toward Queen Victoria Park for wider photos that show the falls, mist, and skyline together. For a higher view, people usually choose Skylon Tower, a Fallsview hotel, or a helicopter tour.

Boat Tour

Ride close to the base of the falls for the classic Niagara experience. You will get wet from the mist, so this is best when you are comfortable with crowds, spray, and a more active attraction.

Ticket price range: Usually about CAD $25 to $45 per adult, depending on season and operator

Journey Behind the Falls

Go down through tunnels near the Canadian Horseshoe Falls and step onto lower observation platforms. This gives a closer, louder, mistier view than the upper promenade.

Ticket price range: Usually about CAD $18 to $30 per adult

Clifton Hill

Walk the entertainment street for restaurants, arcades, the SkyWheel, dessert stops, and nighttime lights. It is touristy, but useful for families and evening plans after seeing the falls.

Ticket price range: Walking is free; attractions usually range from about CAD $10 to $20+ each

Summer Fireworks

Stay near Queen Victoria Park or the falls promenade for the summer fireworks show over Niagara Falls. For 2026, the official schedule runs every night at 10:00 PM from Friday, May 15 to Monday, October 12. Extended holiday displays are scheduled for Canada Day on July 1 and U.S. Independence Day on July 4. Shows are weather dependent, so check the schedule on the day of your visit.

Ticket price range: Free from public viewing areas

Planning tips

  • Arrive early on summer weekends to avoid the busiest viewpoints.
  • Bring a light waterproof layer for boat tours and close-up viewing areas.
  • Stay into the evening if you want lights, Clifton Hill, and a slower return drive.

Parking tips

  • For closest parking, look around the Table Rock Centre or Falls parking areas, but expect higher prices and limited space on busy days.
  • For a cheaper or less stressful option, park farther from the falls and walk, use WEGO, or choose a hotel with parking included.
  • If you are visiting for fireworks, arrive before evening dinner hours because lots near the falls fill quickly and traffic gets slow after the show.
