How to use study questions
- Study questions are most useful after you have read the related content and reviewed key facts.
- If you miss a question, review the topic and understand why the correct answer is right.
- Try mixing questions from different chapters to prepare for the real test format.
- Use chapter questions first for learning, then use mixed mock tests to practise switching between topics.
- Do not rely only on the same repeated questions; the real test can reword facts and ask about the same idea in a different way.
Test habits
- Read every option carefully before choosing an answer.
- Watch for similar names, dates, levels of government, and terms such as right, responsibility, province, and territory.
- Use practice as a learning tool, not as a guarantee of the exact test questions.
- When two answers look similar, ask which one is more precise and directly connected to the chapter topic.
- Keep a short list of weak facts, such as dates, capitals, symbols, official languages, election terms, and responsibilities.
Final review checklist
- Know rights and responsibilities, including voting, jury duty, obeying the law, volunteering, and respecting others.
- Review the main history timeline: Indigenous peoples, early explorers, New France, British rule, Loyalists, War of 1812, responsible government, Confederation, and modern Canada.
- Understand how government works: constitutional monarchy, parliamentary democracy, federalism, Parliament, elections, and levels of government.
- Memorize key geography and symbols: provinces, territories, regions, capitals, flag, anthem, Crown, maple leaf, national sports, and Remembrance Day.
How to review by difficulty
- Easy facts: flag, anthem, capital, national sports, official languages, provinces, and territories.
- Medium facts: levels of government, election terms, rights, responsibilities, and regional industries.
- Harder facts: history timeline, major people, laws, constitutional milestones, and connections between events.
- Spend more time on topics you confuse often, especially similar dates, names, and government roles.
Before the real test
- Complete at least one full mock test so you know how it feels to answer mixed questions.
- Review wrong answers from chapter practice and sample questions instead of only checking your score.
- Read official test instructions carefully so you know the date, time, format, identification requirements, and any technical steps.
